Caisa's Birthday, a month late...

A month ago, Caisa had a birthday. We sat in London Fields and drank Cava and ate brownies and it was lovely. So are Caisa's purple tights.

I left the party early attend The Secret Cinema with Charles. The theme was Arabian Tribal, and the film we saw was, unsurprisingly, Lawrence of Arabia. As you can see, the organizers went all out to make the experience as authentic as possible. Good fun, but I wish I had brought some extra cushions. The floor gets mighty uncomfortable after a few hours of lounging.

Check the website to find out about the next Secret Cinema. It is pretty cool, if you are in to dressing up and watching films and all that jazz.

2 Days, 2 Parties

More Virgo Birthdays! This time, it was Roro, and we actually managed to throw him a surprise party at my new flat. He CLAIMS he knew something was up, but he looked super duper terrified and pissed off when we screamed at him as he entered my flat. The party started out tame, as these things often do, and it ended in a cupcake fight in my kitchen.

After that, we went to Plastic Peoples where I danced my face off. The DJ was really good, so I decided I was in love with him. My idea of flirting was to write I LOVE YOU on a receipt in red lipstick and place it by his decks while he was spinning. To my surprise, this awesome move actually failed. Whatever, I think he was married...

After dancing came random house party, followed by me sleeping for many many hours. All in all, a successful 25th for RORO!

Sunday saw the arrival of my friends from Bristol, the band The Last Rogues. They played at The Dublin Castle in Camden, and after their set we decided to retire to my flat with wine, beer, vodka, and a shit load of Lilt. Joe, the singer and guitar player, was in possession of a luxurious head of long brown locks. According to the other members of the band, he looked like a girl. Therefore, we decided to give him a makeover. Thom Mason was art director, and I was in charge of creating the lovely zebra stripes. Personally, I think Joe looks simply stunning.

Two great nights, two awesome groups of people. Although, I am gonna lay off the parties for a while...the builders who came to do work on my flat on Monday and Tuesday actually asked me if I worked nights. If I did, that would explain the all day napping sessions I enjoyed this week. Can I now classify myself as a midnight hair stylist? Ya...midnight hair stylist it is....

Virgo Virgo Virgo

I had a lovely time on my birthday. I love my friends.

Mine was the first of many Virgo Birthdays to come in the next month...Caisa, Roro, Nathan, Rosie, Brad, Daniel...I feel so lucky to celebrate the birth of such wonderful people! This weekend was certainly what I needed to erase the general malaise and negativity I was feeling about life. Nothing like a warehouse party followed by party at caisa and roro's followed by party at katia's followed by cava in the sun followed by dancing at shoreditch house followed by falafel followed by sleep followed by notting hill carnival to make you feel good about life!

Tomorrow I move. I like moving. Fresh start and all that jazz. Let's say I am cautiously optimistic about this month.

Older and Wiser?

August 29 was my 26th birthday, and it was one of the best ones I can remember. I followed the boys of Oldies 990 to the countryside, where they played at a private party in a barn. What started off as a bit awkward (I didn't know a soul, and I had forgotten socks to protect my feet from the rain and cold) turned in to a freewheeling evening of laughs and tunes and adventures in the wilderness. I was serenaded by the band about four times, since they wanted to make their rendition of "Happy Birthday" as perfect as possible. Once the beer kicked in, I was dancing up a storm with friends old and new. After the show, I was whisked away into the woods on a golf cart going full speed; haven't felt that free for a while. Even the rain couldn't dampen my spirits. On top of it all, I got to sleep in a tent...and who doesn't love camping. Gavin, Peter, Ben, Ryan, Jos....I love youse guys. Thanks for such a lovely evening. Makes me miss Canada...sigh....
